PESHAWAR, July 3: The NWFP government has appointed a brother Maulana Fazlur Rehman as additional commissioner in the Commissionerat of Afghan Refugees (CAR). It may be mentioned that about a month ago the Peshawar High Court had declared the appointment of Ziaur Rehman, younger brother of the leader of opposition in National Assembly, as a project director in the CAR illegal and invalid.

Mr Ziaur Rehman is a PTCL employee and currently he is on deputation with the provincial government. His appointment was challenged in the PHC and a two-judge bench had declared his appointment invalid on May 25.

Sources said that the provincial establishment department had issued a notification of appointment of Mr Rehman as additional commissioner a few days ago. They said the appointment was in clear violation of the high court’s ruling that an employee on deputation could not be appointed by the provincial government in an agency or body of the federal government.
