LAHORE: Two robbers allegedly snatched Rs2 million from a shopkeeper in the Ravi Road area here on Wednesday.

Ravi Road is a business hub, where street crime has increased manifold during the last few months, causing grave concern among local traders and residents.

The victim, Sohail, a resident of Kasur, who ran a shop in the Ravi Road area, told the police that he had hung the bag containing Rs2 million on the bike’s handle, and when he reached near his home, two armed motorcyclists intercepted him.

He said the suspects threatened him with dire consequences when he offered resistance, and took away the cash.

The Shafiqabad police have registered a case against the unidentified robbers.

He told the media persons that dacoits and other criminals were operating freely in the area.

Sohail alleged that before registering a case, the police grilled him for carrying the cash on the bike.
