LAHORE: A woman, her two minor sons and a man were found dead, while the woman’s two daughters were injured under mysterious circumstances in a flat at Safanwala Chowk, Mozang, on Saturday.

According to police and Edhi, Ayesha, 42, her 10-year-old son Muneeb and 14-year-old son Safeer, were found shot dead while her two daughters 11-year-old Manahil and 19-year-old Samra were injured in the flat. A property dealer, Shahid Jatt, was also found shot dead in the flat.

Police shifted the injured girls to the Mayo Hospital for treatment and bodies to morgue for autopsy.

Police also registered the case on the complaint of their heirs.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran told Dawn that the deceased Ayesha was a widow and Shahid had been in contact with her for the past three years. He said Shahid wanted to marry Ayesha’s elder daughter, Samra, but the family rejected the proposal and contracted her marriage with one Moeez Khan in February. Shahid was annoyed with the family and late on Friday night stormed into Ayesha’s house by breaking the door and opened fire immediately after entering. He said Ayesha and her two sons were killed while her daughters were injured. Shahid shot himself in the temple and committed suicide after committing the crime.

He also said the forensic experts also found gun powder residue on the hands of Shahid and it was confirmed that he killed the woman and her sons and committed suicide.

Later, the family of Shahid also gathered and staged a protest, alleging that Shahid was murdered and did not commit suicide. They claimed he was innocent and that the police were not handing over his body. They also alleged that Mozang police were not registering a case against Shahid’s killing and demanded justice.

SSP Investigation Muhammad Naveed told Dawn that the investigation of the case was going on and several residents of the area confirmed that Shahid had killed the woman and her children and committed suicide.
