Iran’s mission to the United Nations has accused the US of being in “clear non-compliance” with nuclear non-proliferation obligations outlined in Articles I and VI of The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

In a post on X, the mission has called the US “extremely shameful” for its alleged non-compliance with the treaty for 56 years.

“The US should not be given any cover for its outrageous and hypocritical behaviour,” the mission says.

It adds, “Legally, there is no restriction on the level of uranium enrichment, so long as it is conducted under the IAEA’s supervision, as was the case with Iran.”
