KARACHI: A young man was killed when a security guard resorted to firing after a quarrel at a café in Gulistan-i-Jauhar late on Thursday night, police said on Friday.

They identified the deceased as Najeeb Ali, 22, and said the security guard, Ikram, had been arrested along with the weapon.

East SSP Zubair Nazir Shaikh said a quarrel took place between some young men at the café when they attempted to go into the ladies’ section. When the quarrel escalated, the security guard resorted to firing, resulting in the killing of one youth and bullet wounds to another.

The SSP said that the guard, the manager of the café and another employee had been arrested.

The police have registered a murder case against the nominated suspects on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Mubashir Ali Memon, a resident of Bakhtawar Goth in Block-9, Gulistan-i-Jauhar.
