CHAKWAL: A man from Buner district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was shot dead, and his body was thrown into a mini dam near Fim Kassar village in Chakwal; while the alleged murderer was also killed during an “encounter” with the police, the police said on Friday.

Zaffar Ali, 34, who owned a tractor and a thresher, came to Chakwal, along with his friend, for threshing wheat.

On the night of April 26, Zaffar Ali received a call from an unidentified person. “The caller asked Zaffar that he had a huge stock of wheat for threshing and sought his services, “ a police official told Dawn.

When he reached the location, the caller, already present there, opened fire on him with a 12-bore rifle, killing him on the spot.

After the murder, his body was thrown into a dam. The alleged killer also took away the tractor, thresher, mobile phone, ATM, and Rs 200, 000 belongings of the deceased.

Police traced the call record made at that time and found the suspect’s identification as Mohammad Yamin, a resident of Fim Kassar village. “Suspect killed Mr Zaffar just because he wanted to grab his tractor and thresher and the money the deceased earned by threshing wheat of the farmers, “ a police official said.

On Thursday night, the suspect was also killed during an alleged encounter with the police near Fim Kassar village.

Although police said that he was killed when police, on a tip, tried to chase him and his two accomplices as they were taking the tractor of Zaffar Ali somewhere, and they started firing on the police party, which resulted in his death, bullets were also fired by his two accomplices, who managed to flee.

A police source told Dawn that the suspect, with one accomplice, was arrested by the police, and later he was allegedly encountered.
