MANSEHRA: A resident of Dasu area in Upper Kohistan allegedly shot dead his wife and a young man in the name of honour in Baffa and Shinkiari areas here on Tuesday night.

“Police have registered two separate FIRs and launched raids to arrest the accused, who fled after killing his wife and a young man in the name of so-called honour,” a police official told journalists on Wednesday.

According to police, the accused first killed his wife at his residence in Baffa and later shot dead a man in his early 20s in Shinkiari before escaping.

A brother of the deceased woman, a resident of Kamila area in Upper Kohistan, told Shinkiari police that his 20-year-old sister had been married to the accused about six months ago.

“My brother-in-law suspected his wife of having illicit relations with the young man. He fled after killing her at his residence,” he said.

A separate FIR regarding the killing of the young man was registered at Baffa police.

A brother of the slain man told police that the accused shot dead his brother before dumping his body by roadside.

“My brother had gone out in the morning for work and did not return home until night. Later, someone informed the family that he had been shot dead by the accused, and the body was lying at roadside,” he said.

The bodies were shifted to health facilities in Baffa and Shinkiari and later handed over to their families after doctors completed medico-legal formalities.

Police, after lodging FIRs, started raids to arrest the accused at various places in parts of Mansehra district.
