Body of warder found in Lakki

LAKKI MARWAT: The body of a warder, who had been kidnapped by terrorists on Tuesday, was found in the Ahmadkhel area of Lakki Marwat district, police confirmed on Wednesday.

A police official said that a group of terrorists had kidnapped the official, Sadiq Khan, near Ahmadkhel Adda when he was going to his Abdulkhel village.

He said that the abducted cop was posted in the Karak prison, and he had come to his hometown on leave.

The police chased the terrorists and destroyed their hideouts in the rural localities.

The official added that the kidnappers managed to shift the jail official to their mountainous hideouts. He said that the law enforcement personnel continued their search for the abducted jail warder and found his body dumped in the fields near Ahmadkhel late at night.

After completing medico-legal formalities in the Government City Hospital, the body of the martyred cop was taken to the police lines, where his funeral prayers were offered with state honour.

Separately, the bullet-riddled bodies of two young men were found in the fields near the Manjiwala area here on Wednesday.

Police immediately reached the venue following information that two bodies had been dumped in the fields. They transported the bodies to the Government City Hospital for a postmortem.

SPORTS GALA CONCLUDES: A month-long sports gala concluded with a colourful prize distribution ceremony in the Terri town of Karak district on Wednesday.

The district administration had organised the festival with the support of an oil and gas exploration company.

The sports gala featured cricket, tug-of-war, football, athletics and other games.

A large number of players from across the district participated in various games.

Banda Daud Shah Assistant Commissioner Shakil Ahmad was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony.

Dr Mushtaq, a representative of the exploration company, distributed trophies and cash prizes among the players of winner and runner-up teams.

SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead over a petty dispute in the Wanda Jogi area of Lakki Marwat district on Wednesday.

The murder occurred within the limits of the Shaheed Haibat Ali Khan police station of Darra Pezu town.

The police said two suspects, including Rizwanullah and Shafqatullah, opened fire on Irfanullah, 33, and his brother, Abdul Waheed, 45, near a shop and managed to flee.

They said Irfanullah was critically injured and died while being shifted to the hospital. His brother narrowly escaped the attack.

The police initiated an investigation after registering a case against the killers under the relevant sections of law.
