LAHORE: Two suspects were killed and as many others were injured in encounters with the police and the Crime Control Department (CCD) in different parts of the province.
In Lahore, a suspect was killed during an alleged armed clash with the CCD in the jurisdiction of Factory Area police on Wednesday.
Police claimed that a CCD team had set up a picket where they signalled three suspects riding a motorbike to stop. Police claimed that one of the suspects suddenly opened fire on the police officials, who escaped unhurt.
As the police returned fire, one suspect later identified as Ali Azmat, was found dead, while his two accomplices managed to flee from the spot, a police official claimed. He added that CCD had intensified security to round up and arrest the fleeing robbers besides shifting the body of the killed suspect to the city morgue for postmortem.
TOBA TEK SINGH: An alleged robber was killed during an encounter with the Jaranwala CCD.
According to the police report, Jaranwala Division CCD Inspector Adeel Shaukat along with his team had set up a temporary picket on the Syedwala Road. The report said that when the team signalled two suspicious motorcycle riders to stop, they started firing at the police party and fled, leaving the motorcycle behind.
Police claimed the suspects snatched a motorcycle from a citizen and fled towards Kot Kamir and the CCD team surrounded them near Hammad Ke Chak. After a two-way firefight, the CCD team claimed to have arrested one suspect in an injured condition, while his accomplice managed to escape.
The CCD team shifted the injured suspect to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police said the deceased suspect was identified as Shahid of 378 GB and he was a proclaimed offender in 15 cases of theft and robbery. The police also claimed to have recovered the citizen’s snatched motorcycle and weapons from the possession of the deceased.
OKARA: Two suspects were arrested in injured condition in two separate police encounters on Tuesday night.
According to the FIR of the first incident, a Tayyab Saeed police patrolling team was informed that armed suspects had robbed resident Muhammad Saleem of his belongings and they were heading towards village 29/2R.
It said the team tried to stop three suspects near village 29/2R, however, they opened fire on the police party, which was also retaliated. The police team later found a man lying injured beside the road, who was identified as Khalid alias Khaldi. He was injured by the firing of his two fleeing accomplices, police claimed. The police claimed to have recovered the snatched motorcycle, cash, victim’s CNIC, a weapon and four empties from the scene.
In another similar incident, a Shahbore Police team was informed that three dacoits had looted citizens Muhammad Waqar and Asif near village 34/4L. Police claimed near village 33/4L, a suspicious motorcycle was signalled to stop but the suspects opened fire on the police party, which was retaliated.
Police claimed one of the suspects was found injured in the fields. He was injured by the firing of his accomplices, who had fled the scene, police further said. The suspect was identified as Fayyaz Baloch, a resident of village 36A/4L.
Police claimed to recover the looted items along with a weapon from the suspect and he was shifted to the area hospital. Separate cases of both incidents were registered by the respective police stations.
