Human trafficker involved in 16 cases arrested in Gujrat

GUJRAT: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested a human trafficker whose name was proposed for inclusion in the red book from Gujranwala.

The arrested suspect was wanted in at least 16 cases and was at large for long.

A senior FIA official said Shahbaz Ahmad of Noshehra Virkan, Gujranwala, who was declared an absconder had been arrested. Moreover, the FIA’s Taftan Police Station had also registered two cases against him in 2020 and 2022.

Shahbaz had received Rs1m from the complainant for sending his son to Italy but provided him fake visas of Serbia and Indonesia. He has been involved in human trafficking since 2010. During the course of this illegal trafficking, several victims were subjected to physical torture and inhumane treatment by the accused and his associates.

The accused also used to detain the victims unlawfully, torture them, and then contact their family members to demand ransom money for their release, which he would collect through various channels.

LAHORE: The FIA arrested two suspects involved in hawala/hundi and illegal currency exchange.

The FIA Corporate Crime Circle raided the Eden City and arrested Muhammad Rizwan and Muhammad Adnan involved in hawala/hundi and illegal currency exchange. A total amount of Rs9.15 million was recovered from them.

A case has been registered against them.
