LAHORE: Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bokhari says the “Apna Khet Apna Rozgar” initiative is a game-changing project for landless farmers and a major step toward strengthening agriculture and the economy of the province.

“Under this scheme, land will be provided to landless individuals on a 10-year lease, benefiting around 88,000 families,” she told a press conference on Monday.

Mr Bokhari said Punjab would create employment opportunities and reinforce its economy and agricultural sector. She said the current government had taken exemplary steps across various sectors, with “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” emerging as a flagship programme aimed at converting barren land into cultivable farmland.

Says over 900 applications already received for land lease

She added that Punjab had record wheat production exceeding its set targets, demonstrating the effectiveness of government agricultural policies. She said that over 900 applications had already been received for land lease.

“Farmers are being provided land worth Rs2.5m to Rs4m, ranging from one to five acres in different areas. Additionally, a one-time grant of Rs50,000 will also be provided.”

She said initiatives such as the “Kisan Card” and Green Tractor Scheme were playing a vital role in promoting agricultural development.

Speaking about the Film City project, Ms Bokhari said 50 acres of land had already been allocated and the project would include modern studios and post-production facilities, enabling Pakistani filmmakers to avoid costly foreign travel for production and editing needs.

She said that record wheat production and a strong mango crop reflected the success of government policies. “Programs such as the Himmat Card, Dhee Rani, Kisan Card, and Green Tractor Scheme demonstrate that the CM’s initiatives are not merely slogans but are delivering tangible results.”

Addressing the political situation, Bokhari said that granting permission for public gatherings to the PTI was the responsibility of the district administration.
