KHYBER: The provincial government has approved various development schemes worth Rs200 million for Bara, the home town of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Suhail Afridi.
Giving details about the utilisation of sanctioned money and the proposed schemes, MPA from Bara Abdul Ghani told reporters in Bara on Sunday that the Rs200 million project has been divided into three packages of Rs100 million, Rs55 million and Rs45 million respectively.
He said that tenders for these schemes were already invited through E-paid system by the tehsil municipal authority with all the interested and eligible contractors and construction firms also asked to attend.
He said that under the comprehensive development package, beautification and provision of basic facilities would be ensured at about seventeen markets and business centres in Bara tehsil.
Markets selected for beautification and provision of basic facilities included the famous Bara market, Dojangi, Droadda, Kohi Chowk, Spin Qabar, Fort Salop, Aziz, Sheen Drand, Meelward, Muhammad Ali Chowk, Merikhel, Asal Jan, Rasul Jan, Dogra hospital front, Nala, Wazirabad pump and Sirajuddin Madrasa markets.
Mr. Ghani said that special focus would be on improvement of infrastructure which included construction of footpaths along the roadsides, water sewerage system and installation of solar run street lights in order to keep the markets illuminated during night time and also improving the security situation.
He said that in order to improve the overall cleanliness and sanitation of these markets, additional dustbins would be placed at appropriate locations with focus on prompt waste disposal system.
He said that uniform signboards at all the shops would be installed in order to give the markets an attractive look with establishment of green belts at appropriate locations in order to keep the environment clean.
He expressed the hope that the new schemes would provide much needed boost to the economic activities in all Bara markets, much to the satisfaction and monetary benefits of local traders.
