HYDERABAD: The Awami Tehreek (AT) has rejected a sharp increase in petroleum prices, stating that the rulers have dropped an “inflation bomb” on public under the pretext of war and made life increasingly difficult for the poor.

At its Central General Council meeting on Sunday, the AT decided to intensify the ongoing movement against the rising inflation, honour killings and jirga system. It noted that under the cover of inhuman customs, innocent girls were systematically killed in Sindh.

The meeting observed that lawlessness was on the rise as Sindh had become unsafe for women due to what it termed corrupt and poor governance of the PPP.

Held under the chairmanship of AT president advocate Vasand Thari, the meeting decided to hold the eighth death anniversary of party founder Rasool Bux Palijo at a public gathering on June 7 in Jungshahi.

Paying tributes to Mr Palijo, it said he dedicated his life to women’s emancipation and against anti-women customs.
