KARACHI: Advocate Qurban Ali Malano was unanimously elected on Saturday as a member of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) from Sindh during a meeting of the Sindh Bar Council (SBC).
An urgent meeting of the SBC was held at its office on the premises of the Sindh High Court to elect its representative in the JCP. It was also attended by Sindh Minister for Law, Home and Parliamentary Affairs Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, who is also a member of the SBC.
SBC Vice chairman Ishtiaq Memon, chairman executive committee Ayaz Tunio and other members participated in the meeting, where detailed discussions were held on matters related to the welfare and facilitation of the legal fraternity.
Proposals were also presented to increase the benevolent fund for lawyers by 300 per cent and to enhance the annual grant for lawyers.
The law minister announced the launch of a dedicated Red Bus service for lawyers in Karachi and said that the service will initially operate on four routes and will later be extended to Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Larkana and Sukkur.
