KOHAT: The students of Nursing Department, Kohat University of Science and Technology, staged a protest here on Friday against the non-registration their institution with the Federal Nursing and Advisory Council.
The protesters said the non-registration of the Nursing Department had put the future of 300 students including girls at stake.
Chanting slogans against the university administration, they said that their last semester was in progress and was about to end but the department was yet to be registered with the Federal Nursing and Advisory Council.
“Our degrees would carry no worth without the registration,” a protesting student said.
The students said that they deposited huge fees for eight semesters but their department was not being recognised. They maintained that they would not be able to get jobs without proper registration. An official said that the university administration was taking steps to facilitate the students and resolve the issue.
He said that the Nursing Department had been affiliated with the KDA Divisional Headquarters Hospital.
The official said that separate buildings had been constructed formale and female students, while a bus had also been bought to provide transportation to the students from university to the hospital besides hiring faculty members for the Nursing Department to fulfil the requirements needed for the registration process.
Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
