GUJRAT, June 30: A growing telephone company has failed to address the complaints of subscribers about inefficient service which, they say, has been persisting for the last 10 days in various parts of Lalamusa.

Several subscribers told Dawn that their handsets and landline sets caught no signal inside their houses. They said they had time and again approached the company’s relevant office but the fault was yet to be rectified.

There are complaints that the people in Karimpura area, hardly a hundred feet from Dhama where the company had installed its booster, are facing the toughest time as their sets catch no signal at all. Equal number of complaints are pouring in from many other localities, including camping ground, Hajipura and Purana Lalamusa.

According to a source, the World Call technicians had changed the direction of the booster about a week ago and this might be the reason for prolonged difficulties for the subscribers.

An official at a local franchise office told this correspondent that his repeated requests to the company to pay heed to the customers’ complaints had borne no fruit. He said his office had sold around 75 landline sets and 25 handsets in Lalamusa.

Admitting that the subscribers have been experiencing weak signals’ problem for the last many days, he expressed apprehension that the company might lose its prestige if it fails to provide prompt service to the people.

A company official from Kharian claimed that the problem would be rectified by the coming Monday.
