LAHORE: The decomposed body of a minor boy was found in an open drain in Gulshan-i-Ravi here on Thursday.

The body seems to be three to four days old and the police and the city district government officials reached the site for investigations.

According to initial reports, some passersby spotted the body of the boy floating on the surface in the drain. They called the police and Rescue 1122, who reached the site and recovered the body.

The police made announcements in nearby mosques but no one could identify the deceased boy.

Forensic experts also examined the body and handed it over to the police which shifted it to the city morgue.

Local residents blamed the city district government for not covering the drain and said the negligence had led to the death of the minor boy. They alleged that the open drain of Gulshan-i-Ravi, a densely populated area, had put the lives of several children at grave risk.

fire: A fire broke out in a multi-storey plaza near Liberty Chowk late on Thursday.

Initial reports suggested that the fire erupted at 12th floor of the Big City Tower. Rescue teams reached there along with fire extinguishing equipment.

A spokesperson for the Emergency Services said the teams were fighting to contain the fire. The Rescue workers were busy in fighting the fire till the filing of this report at 10:45pm.
