TOBA TEK SINGH: A woman and her 10-year-old son were killed over resistance during an alleged robbery in the Kot Medina area of Khanewal on Thursday.

Reports said robbers broke into the house of 34-year-old Farhana Bibi. When she resisted, the suspects opened fire and killed her on the spot. When her 10-year-old son Hassan came forward to save his mother, he was also targeted and shot dead. After the murders, the accused stole mobile phones and jewellery from the house and fled.

Farhana’s three-year-old daughter Hania and four-year-old son Shabaan, who were present in the house during the incident, miraculously escaped.

According to both the minors, the robbers removed jewellery from their mother’s ears and snatched her mobile phone. Farhana’s husband Shahnawaz is in Saudi Arabia for work.

Meanwhile, in the locality of Adda Mehrshah in Khanewal Saddar police area, a youth Ghulam Mustafa killed his stepfather Ghulam Abbas after quarreling with him over a monetary issue. He reportedly hit the deceased in his head with a brick. As a result, Ghulam Abbas was critically injured and died instantly. The suspect has been arrested by police.

PRIVATE SCHOOL: Jhang District Education Authority (DEA) CEO Tanweer Ahmad suspended registration of a private school over corporal punishment to a student.

The action was taken on the directions of DC Ali Akbar Bhinder who received a complaint about the incident in a private school of Massan. A case has also been registered against the owner and a teacher of the school and police arrested the teacher.

DHQ HOSPITAL: The health department in Jhang decided to outsource the pathology department of the DHQ Hospital to address delays in diagnostic tests and administrative inefficiencies.

Meanwhile, taking notice of complaints of the patients, the hospital MS directed the pathologist to improve laboratory performance and ensure better service delivery.

There were complaints from patients that they were facing difficulties due to delays in tests, getting reports and lack of cooperation from laboratory staff.
