Girls hostel owners booked over harassment charges

BAHAWALPUR: The Civil Lines police have registered a woman’s harassment case against three persons, including two owners and a woman of a private girls hostel, in Bahawalpur city on Thursday.

The first information report was registered on the complaint of a tenant of the hostel located in Faisal Colony under sections 506 and 354 of Pakistan Penal Code.

Complainant ‘A’ alleged that one of the hostel’s owners ‘W’ on April 17 sexually harassed her in her room. Later, a hostel girl student also misbehaved with her in connection with the alleged harassment and tore her clothes.

She alleged that the suspects threatened her with dire consequences and now wanted to expel her from their hostel while she had already paid rent to them.

Earlier, the complainant had also addressed a press conference and demanded that the police book the hostel owners.

The police PRO told Dawn that the complainant was referred to hospital for her medical examination, the result of which was awaited. The nominated suspects are yet to be arrested.

ARRESTED: Dhanote police in Lodhran district claimed to have arrested three suspected rapists of a boy on Thursday.

According to police PRO, three suspects ‘S’ , ‘A’ and ‘Sh’ allured the minor boy, took him to the house of ‘A’ on April 17 and allegedly raped him.

Dhanote police on the complaint of victim’s father registered a case under sections 376 and 377 of Pakistan Penal Code on April 21 and claimed their arrest on Thursday.
