SARGODHA, June 30: As a special crackdown on unregistered brand new vehicles continues in the district, the police claimed on Friday to have impounded over three dozen cars and more than 300 motorcycles so far.

DSP (Traffic) Azhar said many cars had been impounded for displaying blue (official) lights and stickers bearing police name and insignia which were used by criminals. He said the mobile squads had been asked to take action against the violators without discrimination.

He said the excise department touts were minting money, as courts have refused to give the vehicles on ‘supardari’ even to owners having sale receipts.

POWER BREAKDOWNS: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company continued long shutdowns on the third day on Friday and refused to entertain the consumer complaints.
