The Israeli military’s chief of staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, says the force “set out on an unprecedented campaign against the Iranian regime, which for years built a plan for the destruction of the State of Israel and developed practical capabilities to realise it”, Al Jazeera reports.

“We will continue to stand on guard, we will not allow Iran to realise its ambitions, and we will ensure the eternity of Israel,” Zamir has been quoted by The Times of Israel as saying.

In Lebanon, the Israeli army aims to “create a new reality” that guarantees the security of northern Israelis, Zamir adds.
