The Lebanese army says construction has been completed on an alternate bridge to the Tayr Falsiya Bridge, which was destroyed in an Israeli campaign of attacks on infrastructure in southern Lebanon, Al Jazeera reports.
The bridge spans the Litani River, which Israel had previously set its sights on as the northern end of a desired “buffer zone” in Lebanon.
The army says the bridge is now open to vehicles, with the announcement coming as tens of thousands of people displaced by Israeli attacks continue to return to their homes in southern Lebanon.
