RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi police have disputed a social media news item about closure of markets from Saturday night until further notice and termed it as baseless.

City police officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani said in a press release that no such directive has been issued by the Rawalpindi police regarding the closure of shops and markets.

All markets and businesses in Rawalpindi are open as usual until 8pm as per of government policy, CPO said. Effective security arrangements are being ensured by Rawalpindi Police regarding the movement of foreign delegations, CPO said.
