MARDAN: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Peshawar region president and MNA Mohammad Atif Khan on Saturday said a rally would be held here on the instructions of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Speaking to the media during a visit to the venue for the rally, he said that the Rawalpindi rally had been cancelled by the party leadership due to the Iran-US negotiations. Mardan was chosen for the gathering aimed at securing Imran Khan’s release from jail, he added.

MNA Mujahid Khan, MPA Zahir Shah Toru, leaders Abdul Salam Afridi, Ihtisham Ali and Zarshad Khan were also present on the occasion.

Atif Khan said that the rally scheduled for April 9 at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi was postponed in the national interest. “At that time, important negotiations were underway between Iran and the United States, and foreign dignitaries and diplomats were arriving in Pakistan, prompting the party leadership to delay the event,” he said.

Mr Khan said that all the PTI lawmakers were working hard to ensure the success of the Mardan rally.
