Qatar’s foreign ministry says in a statement that it considers an attack, which left one French soldier participating in the UN peacekeeping mission in south Lebanon dead and several others wounded, a “serious violation of the rules of international humanitarian law and Security Council Resolution (1701)”, Al Jazeera reports.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs renews the State of Qatar’s complete rejection of any aggression targeting the ‘Unifil’ (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon), which plays a fundamental role in maintaining security and stability in the sister Lebanese Republic, and emphasizes the necessity of opening an urgent investigation into the attack and bringing those responsible for it to justice,” the statement adds.
