MNA removed as head of royalty management body

LAKKI MARWAT: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has removed MNA Sher Afzal Marwat from the chairmanship of the Production Bonus Utilisation Committee.

The provincial energy and power department has issued a notification to this effect, according to which MPA Johar Muhammad will replace Mr Marwat as chairman of the committee.

It may be mentioned that the committee manages the royalty obtained from oil and gas sector,

The notification says, “In exercise of powers conferred under para 1.1 of the approved revised production bonus guidelines 2024, Notification No. SO(O&G-II)/F&P/1-15/Production Bonus/192-11 dated 30-10-2024, the competent authority (Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) is pleased to nominate MPA Johar Muhammad (PK-105) Lakki Marwat-I as chairman Production Bonus Utilisation Committee (PBUC) District Lakki Marwat to replace MNA Sher Afzal Khan Marwat (NA-41) Lakki Marwat with immediate effect and till further orders.”

Meanwhile, Sher Afzal Marwat has termed the notification as a malicious move and alleged that after freezing his development funds unjustly, now the provincial government has removed him from a position to which he was legally appointed.

He said that he would challenge the notification in a court of law on constitutional grounds.

ELECTED: A former district councilor, Fawad Ahmed Khan, was elected unopposed as the divisional president of Farm Services Centre (FSC) Bannu Division here the other day.

The elections to the slot were held on the instructions of the director general of agriculture extension, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, under the supervision of director agriculture extension Bannu Division, Shah Hussain. Other officers of the agriculture department were also present on the occasion.

The farmers and members of farm service centres from Lakki Marwat, Bannu and North Waziristan districts elected unopposed Fawad Ahmad as the divisional president of the farmers’ body.

After the elections, Mr Hussain administered oath to the newly elected president at a simple ceremony.

Mr Fawad said on the occasion that resolving problems faced by the growers was his top priority.

KILLERS TO BE ARRESTED: Karak District Police Officer Imran Khan has said that the killers of the student leader would be brought to justice soon as a special team had been tasked to arrest the culprits.

During a visit to the residence of deceased students’ leader Babar Adeel in Sabirabad town, he shared his condolences and sympathies with the members of the bereaved family.

He declared the murder a test case for the police and said that the murderers would not escape the punishment as per law.

According to police two armed motorcyclists had shot at and killed Babar Adeel, 21, near Mithakhel when he was going to his village from Karak Bazaar along with Arsalan Shahid.

Meanwhile, Karak police conducted a clean-up operation against terrorists in the Daraishkhel, Ghol Banda and Darga Shaheedan areas of the district.

A police official said that DPO Imran Khan commanded the operation which was launched on receiving credible information that terrorists were hiding in their safe havens located in the difficult mountainous terrain.

“During the operation, the law enforcers destroyed hideouts of terrorists and cleared the area”, he claimed.
