KARACHI, June 27: Pakistan top ranked cueist and reigning national champion Khurram Hussain Agha will take on Tae Hoon Jung of Korea in his opening group “F” match in 22nd Asian Snooker Championship at Colombo on July 1.

The 19-nation annual opens on Friday but both Khurram and Imran Shahzad will be seen in action on Saturday. Imran will be up against Chan Hon Kwan of China Hong Kong, according to draws received from host Billiards and Snooker of Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

A three-member Pakistan squad is due to leave for Colombo on Thursday morning to take part in the championship. Abdul Wahid Qadir is manager of the team. Shabbir Daruwala has been invited as referee.

On July 2, Khurram will clash Singapore's Boon Aun Keith and Imran meets Pham Hoai Nam of Vietnam in the morning session. In the evening session of the same day, Imran will be up against Atthasit Mahitti of Thailand and Khurram takes on Sri Lankan Ryan Somaratne.

On July 3, Imran Shahzad play Chinese Tuan Li and Khurram will be taking on Nizar Abdulleh Asere.

Later, heading a delegation, president of Pakistan and Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) Ali Asghar Valika will arrive on July 2 to bid for the 2007 edition of the continental championship during the AGM of Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports.—APP
