MIRPURKHAS, June 27: Frequent power breakdowns continued in various parts of Sindh following rains causing hardships to people. The power outages also affected water supply to residents of different towns.

Rains continued for half an hour on Sunday night and it led to suspension of power supply in Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Tharparkar districts. After seven hours partial supply was restored.

Regular power breakdowns are taking place at sub-divisional level in these districts which disrupted water supply and even in sizzling heat people experienced untold hardships.

Business activities were adversely affected whereas patients in private and government hospitals also faced great inconvenience.

Small industries including chakki, oil spellers and ice factories are lying closed.

In-charge sub-station of Mirpurkhas grid station, Latif Hashim said that due to rains and strong winds, electricity poles and high tension line fell down between Nawabshah and Sanghar.

As a result, Hesco power control office Hyderabad was now monitoring power supply to Sanghar district from Mirpurkhas and load of Mirpurkhas grid station had increased which was causing frequent power breakdowns in Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Thar-parkar and Sanghar districts.
