Kurram clash death toll rises

Published June 27, 2006

KOHAT, June 26: The death toll in last week’s clashes between two tribes in Kurram Agency has risen to 24 as two injured people died in hospital on Monday. Officials said the toll might rise as most of the 36 injured people admitted to hospitals in Peshawar and Kurram Agency were in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the rival Mali Khel and Bushera Bangash tribes handed over 20 tribesmen each to the authorities through the efforts of the grand jirga which had brokered a truce between them till Aug 18, when it would meet again to decide the water dispute.
