ABBOTTABAD: A motorway police inspector, who was providing assistance following a traffic accident, lost his life after being struck by a truck near the Hazara Motorway here on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Inspector Yasir Arafat, who was assisting with the rescue efforts following a traffic accident, when a truck hit him from behind, leaving him dead on the spot.

The truck driver escaped the spot. However, the police launched a search after registering the case.

The deceased was said to be an honest officer, and his death was termed a loss for the motorway police.

His funeral prayers were offered in his native Dobthar village, where he was laid to rest with state honours.

People from different walks of life, including officers from the motorway police, and residents attended his funeral.
