LAHORE: A couple of coaches of Islamabad-bound Green Line Express (5-up) derailed a few minutes after the train left Wazirabad station on Friday.

According to reports, the coaches derailed after breaking of buffers and the brake-discs fault.

However, Railways Lahore Division superintendent Inamullah Khan dispelled the impression, stating that one of the coaches became defective on the way leading to halt of the train on the way on an emergent basis. “None of the coaches was derailed. The problem occurred with only one coach — probably the brake-discs and buffer breaking,” he told Dawn.

He said the train was dispatched to its destination after the defective coach was detached from the rake.

On the other hand, the up rail traffic on Lahore-Pindi section remained suspended for a couple of hours due to the incident. A relief train was also dispatched to the site to separate the defective or derailed coach from the rake.
