QUETTA / GWADAR: The provincial capital, Quetta, and other parts of Balochistan received heavy downpours, hailstorms, and thunderstorms, disrupting normal life on Thursday. Power supply was suspended, and traffic affected in the Makran region, while rainwater entered houses in low-lying areas.

“As many as 27 out of 41 districts of Balochistan are receiving torrential rain accompanied by thunderstorms, severely affecting normal life,” an official said.

The rain, which began on Wednesday, continued throughout the day in Quetta.

The ongoing spell of rain continued in other northern areas of Balochistan, including Chaman, Qila Abdullah, Kalat, and Nushki.

Gwadar district also received heavy rain, affecting daily life. Other areas of Gwadar also witnessed heavy downpours. Gwadar and Pasni were among the worst-hit, with several areas of the two districts inundated.
