Water shortage decried

SANGHAR, June 24: The tail-end growers of the Dilshad branch staged a demonstration here on Saturday against non-availability of water in their watercourses for last three years. They blocked the Nauabad Road near the Kazi bus stop.

Sikandar Mangrio, Mito Jamali, Qazi Jan Mohammad and many others said that their water courses No.27-AR, 28-L, 29-AR- 29-R and 30 tails had not been receiving water for last three years.

They said the Dilshad branch originated from the Mithrao canal which was always full but they were not receiving their share because the influential landlords in connivance with irrigation officials were stealing water by tampering modules. They demanded deployment of Rangers on waterways.

WATER ROTATION PLAN: Due to shortage of irrigation water in the Nara Canal system, the irrigation department has implemented the rotation system in various branches and minors in Jhol, Khadro, Sanghar and Khipro sub-divisions.—Correspondent
