GILGIT, June 24: The Northern Areas tourism department is planning to boost tourism in the Northern Areas. This was stated at a seminar here on Saturday on ‘marketing and promotion of sustainable tourism’.

Representatives of the tourism department said that the department was hosting a website, enabling tourists from across the world to access latest information about regional tourism activities.

The seminar was told that tourist information centres were also being established. The speakers also sought suggestions for improving the tourism department’s website.

Officials of the department said that these steps would help attract more tourists to the Northern Areas which in turn would increase the income of local people affiliated with tourism and trade.

People associated with tourism, trade, culture and hotels participated in the seminar.
