BAHAWALPUR, June 23: The Supreme Court chief justice has sought by June 26 (Monday) a report on the mysterious kidnap of an MBBS first-year student of the Quaid-i-Azam medical college eight years ago.

The report has been sought on the writ petition of student Khurram Illyas’ mother from the Punjab advocate-general, SP investigation and ASP (city) who have also been directed to appear in court on June 30.

The petitioner submitted that her son’s kidnappers were influential people and the police officials were avoiding moving against them. She requested the court to entrust the case investigation to the Lahore crime branch.

ELECTRIFICATION: As many as 243 schemes of village electrification costing about Rs240 million have been completed in the district, a meeting was informed here on Friday.
