FAISALABAD, June 21: Police claimed the alleged bandit they killed in an encounter on Tuesday night had shot dead a constable and was involved in over a dozen heinous crimes.

A police spokesman claimed that deceased Haroom Masih had gunned down a constable, Khalid Mehmood, at Samundri and also killed a woman and her daughter over a month ago.

He further claimed that the accused was wanted by various city police stations in cases of dacoity, highway robbery and murder, and was running his own gang for the last four years.

Efforts were being made to round up the fleeing accomplice of the accused, he added.
