QUETTA: Mir Ziaullah Langove of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) has been unofficially elected a member of the Balochistan Assembly after securing a majority of votes in the re-polling held at seven polling stations of PB-36 (Kalat) on Tuesday.
The re-polling was held on the orders of the Election Commission after Mir Saeed Ahmed Langove challenged the earlier result of the constituency in which Ziaullah Langove had been declared the winner.
According to unofficial results, Ziaullah Langove secured 14,181 votes after the re-polling. Mir Saeed Jan Langove, the candidate of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, came second with 11,064 votes, while PPP candidate Muhammad Naeem Dehwar secured 6,014 votes. Mir Qadir Bakhsh of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal finished fourth with 5,835 votes.
According to officials, voter turnout during the re-polling was approximately 41 per cent.
