OKARA: A mentally disturbed man allegedly beat his seven-year-old daughter to death at Mohallah Primary School of Shergarh in the jurisdiction of Renala Khurd tehsil.

According to the first information report (FIR), the incident occurred on March 10 when the minor, Chanan Zohra, was sleeping in her house in the afternoon. Her father, Ali Danyal, who had reportedly been under treatment for the last six to seven years at a public sector mental health institute in Lahore, was also present at home.

The suspect allegedly entered the room where the child was sleeping and closed the door from inside. He then started hitting the girl with a club while she was asleep.

Hearing the cries of the minor, her mother rushed to the room and knocked at the door but received no response. She raised an alarm, prompting neighbours to rush to the house and break open the door.

However, the suspect managed to escape from the house. The minor girl was found critically injured and died on the spot.

On the complaint of the victim’s mother, Amna Bibi, Shergarh police registered a case against the suspect under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). According to police, the alleged killer was later arrested.
