KARACHI, June 19: District and Sessions Judge, Central Nisar Ahmed Shaikh on Monday issued notices for June 27 to police officers in the death case of Hafiz Naveed. Naveed was allegedly tortured by a mob and later handed to Shahrah-i-Noor Jehan Police. He died in police custody and police also showed recovery of a toy pistol from him.

As no FIR was registered in respect of the death of deceased, Abdul Rafique, brother of Hafiz Naveed with the assistance of Pasban filed a criminal petition under Section 22-A of Cr PC.

The DJ Central, after perusing the petition, issued notices to Rustam Khattak, Mohammad Shabbir and Mehboob Hussain, directing them to appear in person or through a pleader.—APP
