Vaughan may return

LONDON, June 18: England captain Michael Vaughan could feature at some stage in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, it was revealed on Sunday.

England coach Duncan Fletcher admitted he is in touch with Vaughan regularly as the batsman continues his recovery from a long-term knee injury.

It had been expected England would call-up a replacement for Ed Joyce after he injured an ankle in Thursday’s Twenty20 defeat against Sri Lanka at the Rose Bowl.

But Fletcher confirmed that nobody would be drafted in, leaving the way clear for Vaughan to return during the five-match series with the Sri Lankans.—AFP
