QUETTA: The Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA) has directed property developers and promoters across the province to complete mandatory registration with the authority and submit tax returns within stipulated time for each tax period.

According to a BRA notification, services related to land development and the construction of residential and commercial units fall under the Balochistan Sales Tax on Services Act, which imposes specific tax rates on these activities.

As per the notification, a tax of Rs100 per square yard has been fixed on services involving conversion of purchased or leased land into residential or commercial plots.

Additionally, a tax of Rs50 per square foot of covered area has been levied on the construction of residential or commercial units.

The BRA said that all developers and promoters are legally required to complete registration in accordance with prescribed rules.

The authority warned that failure to comply may result in penalties and legal proceedings as provided under the law.

It urged all business entities to strictly follow tax regulations to avoid legal action and additional financial liabilities, reiterating its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the province’s revenue system.
