KARACHI: A delivery rider was killed after a speeding vehicle overturned, skidded across the road and struck him while he was standing outside a house in the Defence Housing Authority on Monday.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
South DIG Syed Asad Raza said the food delivery rider was on his motorcycle in front of a bungalow near the main Saba Avenue signal when a car, after somersaulting, overturned and hit him. Both the rider and the driver sustained injuries and were initially taken to a private hospital in Clifton.
The injured rider, identified as 26-year-old Farhan Ali, was later shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in critical condition, where he died during treatment, DIG Raza said.
Police identified the car driver as 25-year-old Hasan Banghwar, who remains admitted to a private hospital in Clifton.
A police mobile has been stationed outside the hospital to take him into custody once he is discharged after treatment.
