QUETTA, June 17: The Pakistan Oppressed Nations’ Movement has said that the alliance was ready to launch a joint struggle on a one point agenda with the ARD and MMA against army and intelligence agencies’ role in politics.

Addressing a public gathering at Bacha Khan Chowk on Saturday, speakers criticized the leadership of Punjab and army generals for denying political, constitutional and democratic rights to Baloch people, Pukhtuns, Sindhis and Seraikis.

Sardar Ataullah Mengal, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Dr Hayee Baloch, Jalal Shah Mahmood, Dr Qadir Magsi, Abdul Majid Kanjo, Zain Shah, Mehar Hussain Shah, Obaidullah Bhutto, Azizullah Bohio, Ghulam Rasool Gormani and Qamar Bhatti addressed the gathering.

Sardar Mengal said that it might be his last public appearance as he would hand over the alliance’s responsibility to PONM leadership on Sunday. He said that he would not stop youths to fight back usurpers as the rulers.

He said that rulers were not honest in resolving the issues through political means.

Mahmood Khan Achakzai stated that although PONM had differences on political issues with the PPP and PML-N but the nationalist alliance was ready to cooperate on one point agenda with the ARD and MMA for collective struggle to keep the army and intelligence agencies out of politics.

Dr Hayee Baloch said that military operations and arrests of political workers could not suppress the democratic struggle of the political parties.

Dr Qadir Magsi condemned the military operation in Balochistan, Waziristan and Bajaur.

The meeting adopted 26 resolutions demanding new constitution in light of the 1940 resolution, disbanding the national security council and ending the military operation in Balochistan.
