QUETTA: The Balochistan National Party has strongly condemned a break-in and vandalism at the farmhouse of its central vice president, calling it a campaign of retaliatory actions against the party for its vocal stance on regional rights.

In a statement, party leaders said armed individuals forced their way into the farmhouse last night, causing “extensive damage to property and taking away valuable items”.

The party alleged that “political retaliatory actions are being carried out against the BNP due to its clear, truth-based policies and steadfast stance on rights”.

The incident follows a similar event in Nushki, where the guesthouse of the party’s central executive committee member, Haji Mir Bahadur Khan Mengal, was vandalised, according to the statement.

Party vows work on missing persons, human rights ‘cannot be deterred’

The BNP argued that the attack on a political and tribal figure from the Khan of Kalat family demonstrates “a pattern of unfair treatment against the party”.

The release stated that the BNP is facing “various obstacles and challenges” for highlighting critical issues in Balochistan through democratic means.

It cited what it called “social media trials” and legal cases filed against party President Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal and his associates as further examples of politically motivated reprisals.

The party said its commitment to “rights, the recovery of missing persons, and the protection of human rights cannot be deterred”.

The statement also noted that such attacks violate local customs, emphasising that in Balochi traditions, “the sanctity of homes and privacy holds significant cultural value”.
