SARGODHA: Two suspects, including a policeman, have been arrested for allegedly torturing a milk vendor when he demanded money from one of the accused.

According to sources, when milk vendor Amjad Ali of Dewal area of Bhalwal Saddar Police station asked for money from Sajid, he called him to policeman Mushtaq’s house and tied him up. The trio then allegedly tortured the milk vendor.

DPO Muhammad Sohaib Ashraf took notice of the incident and sought a report and ordered the immediate arrest of the accused.

On this, the Bhalwal Saddar Police registered a case and arrested constable Mushtaq alias Shaqi and accused Sajid, while police were searching for the third accused Saif. Constable Mushtaq was also suspended for misuse of authority and a departmental inquiry had been initiated against him.

The DPO said that the case was being investigated on its merits and justice would be ensured. The DPO said that no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands.

SEALED: More than two dozen shops have been sealed and cases registered against vendors for alleged overcharging in an operation of the Pera Force led by the assistant commissioners.

Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry said that making essential commodities available to the public at fixed prices was the top priority. He said that indiscriminate action was being taken against those selling at high prices, hoarding and creating artificial shortages.

The DC warned that those who violated the law would not be spared. He directed the price control teams to carry out daily inspection of markets and ensure that the official price lists were prominently displayed and take immediate action on violations.

ARREST: Police claimed to have arrested a rape accused in an injured condition after his motorcycle collided with a pole while attempting to flee from the police.

According to the police, the DPO took notice of an attempted rape of a 7-year-old child in the Satellite Town area of Sargodha city. He formed a special team headed by the Satellite Town Police SHO to arrest the accused.

Police claimed that the team traced the accused using modern technology and conducted a raid to arrest him. The accused allegedly attempted to flee on a motorcycle after seeing the police and crashed into a pole due to high speed and was seriously injured.
