KARACHI: India ‘A’ outplayed Pakistan ‘A’ by eight wickets in a group match of the Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars at the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok on Sunday.

India ‘A’ chased a scanty 94-run target in just 10.1 overs as opener Dinesh Vrinda struck an unbeaten half-century in the Group ‘A’ match.

India cruised to their target after losing Humaira Kazi for a duck on the very first ball of the innings bowled by pacer Waheeda Akhtar.

Player-of-the-match Vrinda cracked 55 not out off just 29 balls with the help of 12 fours. She added 79 runs with Anushka Sharma (24 off 26) which was broken by left-arm spinner Momina Riasat in the ninth over.

Earlier after electing to bat first, Pakistan ‘A’ lost the first six wickets for just 41 runs in 9.2 overs. Opening batter Shawaal Zulfiqar struck 23 off 29 balls with the help of three fours. Only Gull Rukh (21) and Anosha Nasir (17), batting at number seven and nine respectively, made some contributions as Pakistan’s main batters badly failed. They were eventually bowled out for a paltry 93 in 18.5 overs.

For India ‘A’, skipper Radha Yadav, Saima Thakor and Prema Rawat picked up two wickets each while Minnu Mani and Jintimani Kalita dismissed one batter each.

Pakistan ‘A’ in their last group ‘A’ fixture face the UAE on Tuesday at the same venue.
