ISLAMABAD, June 16: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized heroin, charas and opium and arrested two smugglers in separate smuggling attempts, an ANF spokesman said here on Friday. He said ANF personnel were laying in wait after receiving tip-off that smugglers were carrying narcotics from NWFP to the Punjab and abroad. In the first incident, ANF raiding party intercepted a Beijing-bound flight (PK-852) at the Islamabad International Airport and arrested Iftikhar Ahmed, passport A-1490379, a resident of Gujranwala.

During initial investigations, the accused revealed that he was carrying 80 heroin filled capsules in his stomach. Later, he was shifted to the Rawalpindi General Hospital where 40 heroin filled capsules were recovered from him.

Likewise, the raiding party also intercepted a van (RIR- 9914) near Tarnol Railway crossing and recovered 50kgs of charas and 1,100gms of opium for the secret cavities of the vehicle.
