SUKKUR: Five suspected smugglers were arrested after about 60 kilogrammes of silver was seized from their possession by the Jacobabad police on Friday.

SSP Mohammad Kaleem Malik told media that a car coming from Balochistan was stopped near the Shambi Shah checkpoint on a tip-off. The occupants were on their way to Jacobabad, he said, adding that a team of Saddar (Jacobabad) police conducted a search of the car under the supervision of DSP Munir Phulpoto and CIA In-charge Mohammad Umar Banglani.

The search resulted in the recovery of a silver consignment which turned out to be about 60 kilogrammes, the SSP said.

The car occupants — Mohammad Siddique, Hafiz Mohammad Umar Jatt, Roshan Mumtaz Jatt, Mohammad Aziz Jatt and Mir Hamza Bugti — were booked and arrested.
