LAKKI MARWAT: The police shot down a quadcopter flown by terrorists after two cops suffered injuries in a quadcopter strike in the Takhtikhel area of Lakki Marwat district on Friday.

An official said that terrorists carried out the strike in the rural area located within the limits of Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station.

He said that the cowardly act by the terrorists injured two policemen.

“The injured personnel were immediately moved to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital in Bannu where their condition is stable,” the official said.

He said that after the strike, Regional Police Officer, Bannu, Sajjad Khan dispatched additional force from Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts backed by anti-drone technology and armoured personnel carriers to the area to launch a search for the attackers.

He said that armed members of the area peace committee also took part in the operation.

“Through a timely and effective strategy, police shot down a quadcopter flown by terrorists,” he claimed.

He said that there were reports of several terrorists being injured in the operation.

Meanwhile, RPO Sajjad Khan visited the hospital and enquired after the injured policemen and directed the hospital’s administration to provide them with quality treatment.

It is pertinent to mention here that on Thursday, eight minor boys were injured in a quadcopter strike in the same locality of the district.

The terrorists had targeted a football ground in the rural area with explosives that were dropped from a quadcopter.
