RAWALPINDI: An Australian national of Pakistani origin, who was deported back to Pakistan, allegedly attempted to escape by jumping from Level-2 at Islamabad International Airport on Thursday, sustaining multiple injuries.

The security staff and Pakistan Airport Authorities (PAA) staff responded promptly and shifted the injured passenger to the Trauma Center for further medical treatment.

A senior official of FIA Immigration said that the incident happened when a Pakistani Australian national who was deported after he completed his sentence in a criminal case arrived at Islamabad International Airport on a Thai Airways flight TG-349 on early Thursday morning.

He said that on arrival the passenger was shifted to the holding cell by the FIA immigration staff for further legal proceedings,

The passenger sought permission from the FIA staff to use the washroom which was granted. After using the washroom, he attempted to escape and jumped from Level-2.

The passenger fell near Belt No. 2 and sustained multiple serious injuries.

The PAA medical staff and the security staff shifted the injured passenger to the Trauma Center for further medical treatment.

He further said that inquiry will be initiated by FIA.
